Hi everyone, Mou Saha here with a tutorial to dress up your 2023 journal, bullet journal, or sketchbook front cover with a badger with a flag illustration using Goldfaber Aqua Dual Markers. The badger symbolizes boldness, tenacity, focus and resourcefulness among other things and felt to me like a great flag bearer welcoming the new year!

Lightly sketch a badger carrying a forward-facing flag using Goldfaber graphite HB pencil.

Start with coloring the badger’s face using the flexible brush tip of the Burnt Siena 283 Goldfaber Aqua Dual Marker.

Since I am working on a kraft toned cover, my colors will appear muted. If you are working on white or ivory paper, you’ll get a far more vibrant result. You could blend and wash out your colors if you decide to add water to the aqua marker ink.

Color the sweater. I used the brush tip of the Brilliant Red 122 and Dark Cadmium Orange 115.

Outline the badgers face with the hard felt tip of the Burnt Siena 283. Fill in the paws and tail with the brush tip. Give its cheek some color with Apricot 116.
Color the rod with brush tip of the Warm Grey III 272 and the finial at the top with Light Yellow Ochre 183.
Color the banner with Dark Chrome Yellow 109.
Give our badger a ground to walk on with Titanium Violet Light 277.
