A sketch tutorial using Goldfaber Color Pencils!

Hi everyone, Mou Saha here with a color sketching tutorial using Goldfaber Color Pencils. I have made a complete materials list for you.

Materials:

Grip 2001 Graphite Pencil - HB - #117011

Kneadable Art Eraser - Grey - #127220

Goldfaber Color Pencils - Tin of 48 - #214748

Mixed Media paper, 9 x 6 inches

If you look closely at trees, you’ll find endless inspiration. The textures of the bark, the shape of the trunk, roots, branches and leaves, maybe even flowers – can become a valuable source of study. Start by making a light sketch of the scene using Grip 2001 Graphite Pencil - HB on mixed media paper.

Next start studying the texture with colors and lines using the Goldfaber color pencils.

Trees are not just green and brown. There are patches of light blue where the fungus grows. There are yellows, greys and even light purples. Just look closely.

You’ll notice clumps of moss on the trunk and branches. Follow the bark patterns.

See where branches had been cut off in the past and how the tree has healed around those spots.

Real trees grow in their own organic ways and don’t necessarily look perfectly symmetrical as we often see them painted. Most important of all, trees always adapt to their environments and find ways to thrive.
