A watercolor tutorial with adorable penguins!

Hi everyone, Mou Saha here with a tutorial to create your own Father’s Day Card using Pan Watercolors and Pitt Artist Pen®. I have compiled the materials list for you.

Materials:

Grip Writing EcoPencil with Eraser (HB) - #117200

Kneadable Art Eraser - Grey - #127220

Watercolors in Pans 48ct - #FC169748

Pitt Artist Pen® Soft Brush - #199 Black - #800124

Watercolor paper

With the grip pencil, make a quick and light outline sketch of an emperor penguin and a baby penguin as shown. Penguins are very simple shapes.

An adult male emperor penguin can be painted in three colors – 234 Cold Grey V, 107 Cadmium Yellow and 111 Cadmium Orange from the Pan Watercolors set. The baby penguin requires only 234 Cold Grey V.

Fill your water brush from the Pan Watercolors set with water.

Wet the backside of the penguin torsos with water from the brush. Add 234 Cold Grey V paint and let it spread. This allows for a softer organic look. You can add more of the grey color as you need to add definition to the torso. Leave the highlights white.

Once the grey starts to dry, add the 107 Cadmium Yellow and 111 Cadmium Orange on the adult penguin as shown.

Color a surface for the penguins to stand on the same way as you painted the penguins in the previous step. Add little specks with 234 Cold Grey V while the paint is still wet to create an impression of texture.

Paint a small speech bubble for the baby penguin with 145 Light Phthalo Blue. Let dry.

Write ‘Happy Father’s Day’ in the speech bubble with Black Soft Brush Pitt Artist Pen to finish.
